Mike's Story

Some remember him as one of Wilbraham’s most successful baseball coaches and the man who started the American Legion team in town. Others remember him as a successful businessman, a knowledgeable college professor, a husband, a father and a great friend...

Mike Farrell, who suddenly passed away on August 31, 2008, touched many people, and taught all he came into contact with a lesson in the meaning of giving. Mike was a successful businessman, college professor, husband, father, great friend, and generous man. In his all too short 52 years with us, he impacted many. Whether you knew him or not, one thing you should know about Mike Farrell is that he loved BASEBALL! His passion was baseball! He played and coached little league, high school, college, Legion and Tri-County. His goal was to create for the town of Wilbraham and later, Hampden, a solid core of ball players who would continue to play the game he loved from youth, high school, college, and beyond. Those of us who knew him best now invite you to join in his legacy of generosity by helping to provide a solid foundation for our future ball players. Your participation today will help fund the efforts of “Friends of Mike Farrell.”
